THE METHOD

Let's make it.

  1. 01

Cook Toor Dal with turmeric and water in a pressure cooker until soft and mushy. Mash lightly and set aside.

  2. 02

In a separate pot, cook mixed vegetables with a little water and salt until tender but still firm.

  3. 03

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, dry red chilies, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.

  4. 04

Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add chopped tomato and cook until soft.

  5. 05

Stir in Qureshi's Sambhar Masala and cook for 1 minute.

  6. 06

Add cooked dal, cooked vegetables, and tamarind extract. Add water to achieve desired consistency. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
